5 for Friday 9.4.15

It's Fri-Yay!  This has been an EXHAUSTING week for some reason!!!!  I am so relieved that it's Friday and that it's a 3-day weekend!  I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching again this week for 5 for Friday!  Here we go!

Our slates were introduced this week during Math.  I always give my kids time to "explore" any materials prior to using them...if I don't, they will play with them vs. use them as learning tools during the lesson!  Here we are drawing on our slates!

I sent home our first Scholastic books flyer!  I have to contain myself when I order!  I try to set a limit of $20 for myself {plus using bonus points}!  I am a children's book addict {shown by the classroom library below!}.  *Teacher tip:  Give your kids time to look at the flyer prior to putting it in their mailboxes.  It will help build excitement and might get you a few more orders!

We've been learning about Labor Day this week and yesterday we made this fun poster.  It led to a lot of good discussion and vocabulary building.  Grab some Labor Day goodies below!

Keep your eyes peeled for a BTS Blogger Blitz hosted by GoNoodle!  There will be lots of giveaways!  Stop back by my blog tomorrow for a chance to win something really fun!

I am working on updating my two of my Writing Workshop units!  I am excited about how it's going. We began the workshop this past Monday and the kids are doing fabulous!  Look for a post on how to set up the workshop in your room SOON!  Thinking of starting the workshop this year?  Want to freshen up your system that's already in place?  Check out my bundle below.  It is on SALE through Monday!

Happy Long Weekend, Friends!
