Bouncy Bands

With all the new demands in education, students are required to sit for 5-6 hours a day.  This makes it hard because kids love to MOVE!  Sure, brain breaks are nice, but for some students, they are not enough.  Recently, I had the chance to review "Bouncy Bands" in my 1st grade classroom.  Bouncy Bands are bands that go onto a students' desk or chair and allow for the child to move while they work.  They are great for those students who like to "fidget."  I tried the bands with one of my students last week and was impressed with how much he used it.  I used the Bouncy Band that goes on the chair.  I noticed that the boy using the band was constantly fidgeting yet not distracting anyone else.  I'm looking forward to trying the desk band in the coming weeks!

Bouncy Bands are very popular Donors Choose projects.  Last year alone, 126 teachers received them through DC.   If you'd like to have a class set, Donors Choose would be a great way to obtain one. Thanks for the idea! I have been wanting to do a project, but did not know where to start!

Congrats Emily! I'm so proud of you for taking the initiative to get funding for the resources you want your students to have in your class.
