Teacher Emergency Kit

I don't know about you, but it seems like I am always needing *something* at school...whether it's a Tylenol, deodorant, a cough drop, or a snack, there is always a need!  And if it's not me who needs something, it's my co-workers.  Cue the "Does anyone have any allergy medication?" email.  Over my 18 year career (same district, same building), I have become the go-to person for all the things.  Need dental floss?  Hit up Wheeler.  Need a tampon?  Wheeler has some.  I love being able to help, so I keep my emergency kit fully stocked.  What's in the said emergency kit, you ask?  Basically everything one would need throughout the day when they aren't able to leave a room!  I prefer to purchase travel-sized items for my kit.  I'll show you my stash below, and hopefully inspire you to create your own kit!

Dental Supplies: These supplies always come in handy before parent meetings/conferences.  Dental floss is a necessity for your kit!

Hair Supplies:
A hairbrush is never a bad idea, especially after a windy recess duty!  And I don't know how many times I've gone to my kit for a hair tie!  I keep some cheap ones on hand for my girls as well.

Skincare Items: A teacher can never have enough hand cream and Chapstick nearby!  I use this stuff constantly.  I love keeping a travel sized perfume in my kit when I want to freshen up.

Disinfectant & Sanitary Items:
These are self-explanatory!  I will say I prefer these wipes over hand sanitizer when I am unable to wash my hands.  They feel like they do a better job.

Manicure Items:
A nail file and nail clippers is a MUST!  How many times have we broken a nail while teaching, ladies?

Laundry Items: These items have come in super handy over the years!  Particularly the static spray and the SHOUT wipes.

Personal Items:
I keep a face powder, blush, and deodorant in my kit and use these prior to parent meetings, conferences, open house, etc...Perfect for freshening up!  I prefer to keep spray deodorant because this is a frequently borrowed item by co-workers.  Forgetting to put your deodorant on is the worst!!!

Sunglasses:
Keep a pair of these at school for recess duty!  If you count on using the ones in your car, you'll inevitably forget them one day and be out of luck!

Essential Oils:
Keeping these on hand has been one of the best decisions I've made for my kit!  The peppermint is a game-changer for me, because I suffer from migraine headaches.  The peppermint smell helps distract me from my pounding head until my prescription kicks in.  Fun fact: bees hate peppermint, so use your roller during recess duty!

Medicine:
I try to keep a stash of any and every type of pill I may need....TUMS, migraine patches, Advil, allergy medicine, Tylenol, sinus medicine, and my prescription for migraines.  When I notice my stash is low, I make a note of it and refill it as soon as possible.  Teaching while you're not feeling well is the worst!

Food & Drink Items:
Keep a few snacks in your kit or your desk.  TRUST ME, you will need them.  You will forget your breakfast, lunch, or snack at some point and be glad you have something to snack on.  I also recommend keeping a mug, tea bags and/or extra K-cups in case you forget your coffee (Our lounge has a K-Cup machine).

Misc. Items:
Here a few more misc. items to keep on hand!  I use a lint roller often, and like using the makeup remover wipes before I leave school for the gym.

This is an old hanging organizer kit I got years ago, but I am linking a really nice and spacious one for you below.  It's a top-seller on Amazon and my go-to for travel!

Here's a shot of everything I keep in my emergency kit.

What would you add to your kit that I've forgotten?
