Hi, friends! For those of you on summer break, I hope you're having a blast! For those not quite there yet, hang in there! Summer's ahead! I've been on break for a week now and it's been glorious...pool days, bike rides, movies, and Kings Island! I'm looking forward to many more fun days ahead!
One of my favorite summer activities is reading! I rarely read for pleasure during the school year...it's just too time-consuming with my teaching job, blog/tpt duties, and house duties. I look forward to picking up a few books to read during the summer months. In fact, I already have my stack of books ready to go! As a teacher, I hope my former {and incoming} students will be doing the same. I work hard all year to instill a love for reading in them. One way that I do this is to expose them to a variety of books/reading material. In addition to enjoying books from my personal collection, our classroom library, and the school library, we read a new Scholastic Magazine each week. What I love about Scholastic Magazine is that they include a variety of interesting topics for my first graders. I also really like the fact that they incorporate holidays/special days into their magazines. This is always a great supplement for teaching about holidays.
Today I am partnering up with Scholastic to bring you an awesome giveaway opportunity!! For a chance to win cash prizes {$250, $500, or $1000}, simply post a photo or video of yourself on vacation with a Scholastic Magazine. Be creative! Simply use the hashtag #ScholasticMagVacay with your photo. Not a subscriber? You can request a free sample by clicking HERE.
Below are two places I took my Scholastic Magazine: the city pool {because who doesn't love to lay out and swim in the summer?} and on a bike ride.
Mr. Wheeler and I ride our bikes a lot during the summer. We live near a 9.11 memorial site, where there's an actual piece of the twin towers. We stop each summer and pay our respects to those who lost their lives on that day. I thought the "My American Snapshots" Scholastic Magazine was appropriate for this particular stop.
The giveaway runs June 1-August 31. Have fun and good luck! Click HERE for official contest rules.
