I've always been a fan of everything Scholastic! Recently I had the opportunity to take a closer look at "Scholastic Printables." Who knew it was such an excellent resource!? Scholastic Printables gives you instant and unlimited access to thousands of skill sheets, activities, lesson plans, and more. I love using it if I need something quick for in-class practice or homework. I can log on, search for what I need, and print! It definitely saves me time and money! The classroom resources are created by teachers and vetted by Scholastic.
Searching the website is super easy. You can search by all sorts of things...grade level, reading level, holiday, theme, subject, and MORE. I went exploring "President's Day" and was able to narrow my search to first grade content and first grade reading levels. There are also many ELL options to choose from!
I came across some fun things to use during President's Day week. We've been working hard on addition/subtraction fluency in first grade, as we always do, and these printables add some fun to what might normally just be a worksheet! These are perfect for assessments. I like the Lincoln page because it involves coloring an answer vs. writing it. This is good for my little ones who struggle with written expression. The Washington page is a lot of fun because there is a secret message at the bottom! Who doesn't love that? I bet the kids will be super accurate while solving the problems as to reveal the correct message! If you've been following me for any length of time, you know I am a BIG fan of mini-books! I found a great George Washington mini-book that will be perfect for our President's Day unit of study. The kids love searching for sight words and word chunks in these books. It's also great that they get to keep the books. They enjoy taking them home and sharing their new learning with their families!
