Pass the Plate

I love finding new sight word games for my kids!  Earlier in the year, I saw Lori's post about a fun game called "Pass the Plate."  I added making this game to my summer to-do list and I just made it a few days ago.  To make, you need paper plates and Avery sticker labels.  You could get away without using labels if you prefer to write the words.  We learn 100 sight words in first grade, so I wasn't going to write them all out on plates!  *I purchased the small paper plates that are colored because they are a little more sturdy than the little ones at the grocery stores.

Begin by typing out your sight words onto labels and printing them.  For our sight words, we have lists 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, so I also printed a set of those labels.  Place one label on each plate.  I added a corresponding "1a, 1b, 1c, 1d" on the back so I could quickly differentiate what list we are playing with.  I stored each list of plates in a separate gallon Ziploc bag.

To play, have kids sit in a circle on the floor and give each one a plate.  Play some music.  When the music stops, have the kids read their word aloud.  Repeat.  Such a simple and fun game!

Love your spin on the Pass the Plates by using the labels instead of writing the words on each plate! Big time saver! Thank you for the shout out!
