I love a good sight word activity! I've written many a posts about sight words and their importance in the early childhood classroom! Last year, I came across some colored envelopes on the "free table" at school. Do you guys have one of those? That thing is dangerous, I tell ya! Somehow I manage to score some sweet finds on that table! Things that I never end up plan on using...So anyhow, back to the free envelopes. They sat in my cabinet {with lots of other fab finds that I have never used} for about a year. I decided to take them home this summer so I could think of a great way to use them. After a month or so into summer, "Sight Word Scramble" was born! This is a simple center or RTI activity. Just print the word cards and letters, laminate, and place each word/set of matching letters into a numbered envelope {you don't have to use these envelopes...you can use any kind!}. Students will unscramble the words and write them on the included recording sheets. Easy-peasy! Enjoy! See you at the SALE!

Thank you for this neat idea. You can never have too many ways to practice sight words. I am a K-6 reading specialist and I work with small groups of students. I plan to have the kids write the words in the sand tray, on paper, the small white boards, and/or the "bumpy" boards (plastic craft sheets) with paper on top and they write with a crayon. Then they can trace the crayon word and it is "bumpy."
I am so excited about this unit! It is on my wishlist for tomorrow!! I am also excited to be home...on a computer...to tell you this! LOL :)
