Farm Lovin'

We just wrapped up our Writing unit on farm animals and boy, did we have a great time!  You may have read my post last week about our writing, but if you missed it, click here to see it!  Each day we worked through a page in our books.  We ended our unit by making some fun farm animal crafts and taking a field trip to a dairy farm!

We had fun with these free farm speech bubbles from Whimsy Workshop Teaching!  The kids were cracking me up with these!

"Hey, what's shakin', bacon?"
Finally, we worked on and completed our farm animal crafts!! I had my examples all ready and the materials for each animal laid out.

The kids were so excited to see it all laid out for them when they arrived!  All but the chicken were paper plate crafts.  We didn't really use patterns, except for the big pieces, and I got them at DLTK's website.

On Friday we visited a local dairy farm.  It's always my favorite field trip of the year.  This year it was our only field trip, so naturally, the kids were loving it!  We had a great time.  It was hot but there was a breeze. I can never go to this dairy farm without getting a chocolate malt!  When we returned, the kids worked on their field trip books from What the Teacher Wants

If you like the farm animal writing unit that you saw at the top of this post, click below to check it out.  I also have ocean animals, zoo animals, and arctic animals.
