Birthday Bags-A Bright Idea!

Hi everyone!  It's time for another great blog hop-the Bright Ideas linky!  Today I am going to share with you how I celebrate birthdays in my classroom.   I hope you enjoy it!  If so, please consider following me via the social media buttons at the bottom of this post.

With the overwhelming amount of paperwork, testing, grading, planning and just plain TEACHING, thinking about classroom birthdays is the last thing we have time for!  Over the years I've done various things for my kids {treats, prizes, certificates, bracelets, bookmarks, pencils--you get the point...} but it always stressed me out!  Those dang birthdays would pop up out of nowhere and I'd be frantically digging through my cupboard for a random trinket and certificate to give out.  It wasn't until last year that I decided to ORGANIZE my birthday gifts!  {I'm a very organized person so I'm not sure why I never thought of this before...}  Thus the creation of birthday bags!  This is the second summer now that I've spent time purchasing goodies and putting together treat bags for my kids' birthdays.  All 25+ of them.  It really only takes a few minutes to run to the dollar and teacher stores and then about 20 minutes to assemble the bags.

Here's what I bought this year {mind you, I had a lot of this already in my teacher hoard...}:
  • bags {Hobby Lobby}
  • birthday sticker sheets {teacher store}
  • party blowers {Dollar Tree}
  • Smarties {Dollar Tree}
  • balloons {Dollar Tree}
  • bookmarks {teacher store}

I just put one of each item in the little treat sacks and taped them close.  I put the sacks into a bin and each time a child's birthday comes up, BAM-I hand them a treat sack, we sing happy birthday and call it a day! Easy-peasy!

I think it is a great idea to have everything ready and tucked away in a bag.
