Non-Standard Measurement & Freebie

Good evening! I am reporting to you from my usual space...my uncomfortable chair with no cushion in my cold office.  Oh how I wish I could afford new office furniture!  I need to splurge and at least get a wheeled chair!  I just devoured pad Thai and edamame from Noodles and Co.  Do you guys have that near you? I love it!

This week, we started learning about non-standard measurement and have been having lots of fun with it!

We began by reading How Big is a Foot?  I really like the book for introducing non-standard measurement.  Next, we made a quick anchor chart to refer to as we learn and practice this week.

We've been using Amanda's "Measure the Room" activity to measure school supplies.  It's a great freebie!  Ignore the tiny picture of it! I can't figure out how to make it bigger without blurring it!
                                                                           Measure the Room {Math Centre}

Friday and into next week, we'll be doing the activities in my "Winter Measuring Freebie."  It has an activity from my "Snow Much Fun" center pack.  Click the pics to check them out!

Happy (almost) Thursday!

Not everyone finds adapting to study easy after years of not pursuing formal education. Adults who have jobs and children may be overwhelmed by the time-investment they will have to make. Not everyone who takes the GED passes it on the first try. If someone seeking their GED fails on the first attempt, the important thing is that they not give up, but that they keep trying and working until their goals have been attained. Using the available tools to prepare for GED testing is the most important factor in success.
