Math Tubs

Good morning, friends!  Today I am going to share with you how I organize and run my Math Tubs.  I have been doing tubs for 2 years and my students and I adore them!

First, I group my kids heterogeneously   I have 25 students, so I made 5 groups of 4 and one group of 5.  I organize the kids on the little pocket chart shown below:

I have 6 tubs, so every 6 days I change the materials inside.  I bought my tubs at Target and am loving them.

My students visit their tubs daily, for about 15-20 minutes.  I do them the very last part of the day.  The kids are very independent during this time and know the expectations.  I can use this time to pull a student or two for extra one-on-one practice if need be.

The materials that I put in my tubs vary from week to week.  I typically put games and activities that review skills we've already learned.  I never put a skill in there that we haven't practiced in class first.

Before winter break, I got my tubs ready for the first week of January.  I put activities from my "Snow Much Fun Math and Literacy Pack" inside.

We will be reviewing 3-addend addition...

(included in "Snow Much Fun")
...practicing non-standard measurement.

(included in "Snow Much Fun")

...and of course, we always have one activity that reviews telling time!

How do you organize your Math Tubs? I would love to hear! Do you have any games that are a hit with your students?
