So I finally broke down and made these crate seats that have been floating around blog-land for two years! Here's my tutorial:
|
Go to a home store and have a nice man cut you some wood pieces. |
|
Be sure to take your crate!!! |
|
Buy some foam at a craft store. Cut it to fit the piece of wood. |
|
Buy some cute fabric and staple gun it to the wood. I wrapped mine up like a gift! |
|
Put in your classroom! Ta da! (Use in place of chairs in case you already have 24 kids and the list is growing...)
|
Also, I made this little W for my classroom!
|
A little paint and ribbon and you have a masterpiece! |
I made something else super cute and creative (so I think but someone probably already made it and it's on Pinterest...) but I will share that with you tomorrow! Be sure to head over to
TpT for the last day of the big sale!

I was thinking of making those chairs, but I'm afraid they'll sit too low. Thoughts?
I love how your tutorial starts! Your chairs look good!

I love those chairs! I made some last year and they were great for storage too! :) I love your color scheme too!
Is that plywood you're using? I have the exact same size crates, what size was each piece of wood if you know? They look great by the way..
Woot! Thank you for sharing this and making it seem simple enough for me to try. haha I think this will be my next Monday Made it project. :)
I thought that also...I'm gonna lower my tables

How did your crates hold up? I was looking at the cheap target ones of this size but was worried students would break them leaning on the edges.
How much material for each seat?
Are they sturdy ? How well do they hold up with the weight ? Do you sit on them ?
If you try this will you let me know? I’m wondering the same thing Loopgoop57@yahoo.com
