Listening Center

I have limited space to work with in my room as far as "centers" or "stations" go.  I had been throwing my listening center things in a basket but the cords kept getting tangled.  I came up with this idea last night while tinkering around in my room.  It looks great; now today I will find out if it's functional!! How do you all set up your listening station?

Great idea. I love those command clips. They are great for lots of stuff. Especially inside closets!!! I might just have to try this. I only have 1 extra table in my room (limited space too) so this might work! Thanks for sharing.

I use hooks too. It works really well since my kids use my computer as there listening center. They just unplug the headphone adapter. To put away the headphones, all they do is hook it up. No more tangled cords.

Great idea! I'm assuming your books/tapes are in that container. I've seen teachers put them in gallon baggies and then hang them on a (homemade) PVC frame with "clippy" pants hangers. It allows for easy browsing if you aren't assigning a book for your kiddos!

I love me some command hooks!!! I hang my headphones up like that, too! It works great in my room...I sometimes have to remind my students to hang them up, but other than that it's awesome!! I also have a hook to hang the book up. I check all of my books out of the library and they're in the hanger type bags!!

I used command hooks last year. This year I moved my listening station. I was given a wooden bar thing to hang them on, but they kept getting tangled up. It was a nightmare having to deal with them. I taught my kiddos how to tie them up (wrapping the cord around the ear pieces). They do this when they are finished. No more tangled cords.

Hello. I was online the other night and fell in love with your blog. You have so many wonderful ideas! I will be using lots of them. Where do you get the poems to introduce the phonics hunk and chunks?

I thought I'd share a few ideas with you since I plan on using many of yours. For writing, we often take pictures of the kids. For example, if we are reading about rain, we will have them choose a pair of rain boots, hold an umbrella, and then snap a picture. Then they have to write about it. They absolutely love it! We also make place mats during the holidays. For halloween for example, they write some clues about their costume. I am small. I have a tail. I like cheese. I say trick or treat. What am I? (A mouse). Then they draw a picture to show their costume. We then glue it on large construction paper and laminate. Things like that. Also, you were talking about taking the kids pictures throughout the year. We take lots of pictures. Then we put it on imovie and make a movie. We put the pictures to songs they know and like. It makes a great end of the year gift. Parents love it too. Just a few ideas! Thanks for all of yours!
