Comprehension

The past two weeks, we've been working hard on comprehension in reading groups.  For a quick and easy review over our guided reading books, we do a 5-finger retell using this visual reminder that I made:

Now that the students are used to seeing it, they are working on responding in complete sentences ("The setting of the story is _________.  The main characters in the story are ______.")  These hands are great to make for the kids to take home.  Parents are always looking for ideas of ways to help.

We also take turns passing the 4-blocks comprehension ball.  Oldies but goodies!! Love them!
Happy Monday!
