Science Notebooks

I began using Science journals this year.    I hyped the kids up, telling them that they are going to be real scientists.  My first lesson was having the kids sign a "Science Safety" contract and illustrate what they believe a scientist looks like.  Next, I read "What Scientists Do."  Day 2 was exploring various  Science tools and illustrating/labeling them.  Tomorrow, to lead into the five senses, we are going to read Aliki's book and explore an apple using our hand lenses and our five senses.  So far, the kids are loving their journals!
