Here we are in 2018 and the Winter Games have started! Last Friday, I planned some fun activities for my first graders to kick off the games! Check out what we did below!
I had to make their morning message patriotic, of course! It was a little introduction into our learning about the Winter Games!
As part of my Morning Meeting time, I always incorporate a picture book/read aloud. Mostly because we don't have much time for read-alouds during the day and I think it's an integral part of k-2. I found two awesome books and read them both on Friday. Grab a copy for yourself below! *affiliate link*
Literacy centers were obviously themed out, as well! The activities below are from my "Winter Games Literacy Center Pack," which you can check out below.
I found an awesome Jr. BINGO game from Sara J Creations on TpT! We used Fruit Loops as our game pieces, because they reminded me of the Olympic rings! Click the cover to grab the BINGO set.
The kids made these fun Winter Sports Kids! They made a cute display in the hall! I got this from Crafty Bee Creations. Click the cover to grab a set for your class!
I shared this last week on my Sunday 6 post, but thought I'd share it again today! Our school does a school-wide home art project each quarter and this quarter had the Olympics as a theme! The directions were open-ended...kids could make anything they wanted that reminded them of the Olympics! I think they have done a great job so far!
Go Team USA!
