St. Patrick's Day Ideas

Top of the morning to ya!  Today I am sharing some of my favorite St. Patrick's Day activities.  Hopefully you can find some goodies to use during the month of March.  I don't know about you, but I just love the bright and cheery nature of St. Patrick's Day!  Shamrocks, gold coins, rainbows, clouds....

I'll link everything for you in the post so you can easily find things!  *Amazon affiliate links included.* Enjoy!

These tissue paper rainbows are one of my favorites and can be left up all spring!  When I first started making them, I cut individual tissue paper squares (gasp!).  In more recent years, I found pre-cut squares on Amazon.  However, I can't seem to find the traditional "rainbow" pack on there anymore.  I sometimes see the squares at craft stores, and I snag them when I do!

Making "shamrock floats" is a favorite St. Patrick's Day tradition!  We complete a procedural writing prior to making our floats.  Grab the printables for the floats here.

Speaking of procedural writing, writing about how students would catch a leprechaun is always fun!  There's even a book that coincides nicely with this activity.

Mini-books are great ways to learn new vocabulary and search for sight words!  This St. Patrick's Day mini-book gives a little background of the holiday.

St. Patrick's Day is a great time to reflect on why we should feel "lucky!"  Lucky Tucker is a cute read aloud.  I like to follow the book with writing about why we are lucky.  The Leprechaun craft below came from Cara Carroll many years ago.  This year, my students will be completing the "I am lucky because..." writing and decorating the shamrock.  #timeconstraints

Grab this free writing page here.  Students can decorate the shamrock with markers, paint, tissue squares, glitter, etc!
I like to leave a little treat on my students' desks on St. Patrick's Day.  Fun size Skittles bags are a great treat for this holiday!  Grab the free tags here.

The stamping center is a class favorite!  In March, I put out the St. Patrick's Day stamping booklets.  Grab the stamps here and the booklets here.

Speaking of vocabulary, "I Have, Who Has" is such a great game for this.  It also helps practice listening skills because students have to be very quiet during gameplay!  We'll be playing the St. Patty's edition this week!  I have these games for all sorts of holidays and themes.  Check them out here.

For a Math filler the week of St. Patrick's Day, we complete "Mystery Pictures."  You can find tons of these on TPT.

During center time, I theme out the activities close to St. Patrick's Day.  This St. Patrick's Day "Parts of Speech Sort" includes 3 sorts-1 for nouns, 1 for verbs, and 1 for adjectives. 3 recording sheets included as well.

Another cute craft is this "Lucky Dog" craft!  Includes two optional writing pages, as well!

The leprechaun directed drawing from First Grade Blue Skies was a favorite for years. It's a freebie you can grab here.

St. Patrick's Day BINGO is a fun activity to do on March 17th!  Grab this game, where students "create their own luck" by making their own, individualized BINGO boards!

The listening center always features St. Patrick's Day books in March!

Another option for a directed drawing is this leprechaun from Whimsy Workshop Teaching.  I did this particular one with my students for the first time this year and it was a huge hit!  Definitely recommend.

Finally, a cute writing/drawing activity from The Teacher Wife-"Who is worth more to you than gold?"  This is quick and easy and counts as a "project," right?  Ha!

Happy St. Patty's Day!
