Be a Fly on my Wall Linky

I am linking up with Jodi at Fun in First for her "FLY ON MY WALL" linky!  Take a peek at my day through pictures!  I will be showcasing products I use as well as referencing back to old posts of mine throughout!

We start the day off with unpacking our data binders, beginning our morning work {I just love Kelley's morning work!}, and doing our morning message at the carpet.

Next up, Phonics.  I use lots of goodies from centers I purchase at TpT.  I also use all of my own products that I create and/or have for sale on TpT.  We've been doing some things from my Long Vowel and Vowel Teams pack recently as a review.  We also used some of my activities from my Common Core Skills Focus Pack: Reading Foundational Skills.

My favorite part of the day is Writing time! I run a writing workshop in my classroom all year long.  I use every single thing in my Writing Workshop Bundle.  Currently, we are working on poetry!

Call me old school, but I still have a 25 minute block for independent reading every day!  I think it's very important.  I have used independent reading stations for several years but this year I had to combine them with my literacy stations.  The kids select books from our classroom library on Monday.  They choose 6 books to keep in their bags all week.   I also run my reading group during this time.

After recess, I read aloud a chapter from Junie B. Jones...still love her after 10 years of reading her every.single.day!  I should have all the books memorized by now!  Immediately following Junie B., we do our Daily Sentence Editing.  The kids love them!  And they have gotten soooo good at punctuation, spacing, handwriting, and capitals.  As soon as they have their friends check their work, they head to their literacy centers.  I use a lot of my friends' products from TpT.  I also use all of my things that I create and/or sell in my store.  Above I show my Cookie Sheet Words.

We end the day with Math!  I always begin with a mini-lesson or a review of prior learning.  Then, I allow for independent practice.  I do assessments after that.  Finally, the kids go to their Math tubs.

For a realllly detailed look at how I manage my 1st grade classroom, check out my "Guide to 1st Grade!" It's practical and 300 pages of 1st grade bliss!  Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed the snapshot of my day! :)

  5. Thank you for the detailed look at your day! I was wondering if you could post a picture of your daily sentence editing? I am interested in purchasing your product, but I teach Kindergarten, and I want to make sure it would be appropriate for them. Thanks!
