Valentine's Day Freebie!

Hello, everyone! I have been absent from blogging this weekend because I have a bad cold and have been in bed.  Booo....anyhow I wanted to share a fun little math idea with you involving the little plastic heart boxes pictured below:

Snag yourself some @ Target's Dollar Spot before it's too late!!

Begin by using a sharpie and numbering each box (you can decide how many boxes you want for your center).  Place various amounts of coins inside the boxes.  Place boxes and recording sheets/pencils in a math tub.  Students take turns pulling hearts, counting coins inside, recording the amount, and repeating until they have counted the coins in each box.  Easy and fun!
