Happy Back to School Season, everyone! It's time for another bright ideas blog hop! Today my bright idea is all about keeping an emergency teacher kit in your classroom. Over the years, my kit has grown. It seems like I always have a need for something...and if it isn't me, it's a teammate or someone in the building! My teammates know that I have the "stash" so they come to me for meds and everything else under the sun! You just never know what ailment you might get while teaching! I keep my things in a clear plastic tub so that I can easily see what's inside. When I first started, I used a cosmetic bag but I would end up having to dump the whole thing out to get to the stuff. I buy mostly travel sizes of the things in my kit so I can fit it all in there.
Here's a picture of my emergency kit:

I swear by this tip Megan. It has saved me many a time. I still have my stuff in a makeup bag, but your list reminded me that I need to add a few items (so I will be upgrading to a shoe box). Thanks for sharing.

Great idea.. I typically have "emergency items" in my desk.. I like this idea and will be getting my new box ready!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you how many times my neighbor has 'borrowed' my deodorant. No joke. LOL. Good thing I have never forgot it and not needed it right! LOL. Great tip. I keep mine in a drawer of tupperware container behind my desk. But I like the clear container idea!

In addition to the usual "emergency items", I keep a ladies tool kit on hand. Having a screwdriver and a hammer has come in handy more than once. I consider myself the "McGyver" of middle school.

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your organization tips. I'm always digging through my desk drawers looking for these things. Keeping them together in one container/tub is a great idea.

I keep a bag in my car with a change of clothes in it. You never know and I actually used it once when I sat on some wet paint. I also keep Tylenol, feminine products, and baby wipes in my desk. Always be prepared!
ReplyDeleteI learned the hard way to keep a change of clothes and shoes in my "teacher" closet as well. You only get thrown up on once before you see the need for that one!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I've been teaching 18 years and don't have one of these. I've a;ready started working on it! ;)

I have a kit in my room. I keep some of the things from your list along with sinus medicine since my allergies are always bad. I can't tell you how many times I've had to use everything in that kit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing such authentic blog article sharing with us in which there is brilliant description about it. Please keep sharing more.
