Magic e!

Last week I introduced............MAGIC E to my class and boy did they gobble it up!  I love seeing their facial expressions when decoding those tricky words!  You can just see the wheels turnin' and their lips goin'! This is a skill that is so important for decoding.  Now that it's introduced we'll be having one literacy center per week with some type of magic e activity in it.

I began by introducing my poem that I've used for many years.  I finally gave it a face-lift and re-copied it on chart paper this year!  Next, I introduced my magical e wand!  This also got a face-lift!  We practiced decoding and reading some magic e words together.

The kids had fun writing cvc words and turning them into magic e words on their mats!  Who doesn't love the novelty of a Vis-a-Vis marker!?  We have also been practicing decoding our magic e words in small group {RTI}.  Those flash cards are available below.

As the week progressed, we practiced each day.  We continued to use our slates to write and stretch the words.  We played "Scoot."

For one of our Literacy Centers this week, we will be putting magic e words in ABC order.

We are also sorting magic e words.

We did some of Miss Kindergarten's cut and paste cvce word builders!

All of my activities shown above can be found in my Now Presenting...Magic e!  pack.  Take a peek!  You'll love it!
