Hi everyone! I am in a blogging mood so tonight I bring you a post: Serious Randomness. Just random thoughts and happenings. Kind of like a "Five for Monday" if you will.
Today I went into my classroom for the first time since early June. They keep our building locked up tighter than a drum all summer long. We can't get in. Nor can we get on on the weekends through the school year. Ever. Is this not ridic? Can you get into your buildings on the weekends? My mom {retired 4th grade teacher and helper extraordinaire} came for our annual 'shopping and set up the room' date! She is such a big help! Being a former teacher seriously makes things so awesome. I give her a task and she finishes it to perfection every time. We had a great time last night doing some shopping and eating at the Cheesecake Factory. Then today we were up at 6:00 and out the door. We walked into this:
Just look at those shiny and freshly waxed floors!! I love it. Too bad they only last 5 minutes before someone drips "hanitizer" all over them and it leaves a mark. Why do they always manage to drop the 'hanitizer" on the small BLUE or GREEN area of the tile? It never lands on the white. OK, rant over.
I made this little crayon organizer from Creekside Teacher Tales the other day and can't wait to fill it up wiht fresh crayons. Hopefully, no one will PURPOSEFULLY break all their crayons and throw them in the trash just so they can "get a new red." Not that this ever happened last year. Or did it?
I finally have all of my "Take Home Math Game Bag" direction cards printed, laminated, and cut. They are ready! I typically start these when we begin sending homework home, which is the end of August/early September. The kids LOVE being experts and showing their parents how to play the little games at home and the parents always rave about them! Click here to take a look at these.
I am ALMOST a gold card member to Starbucks!!!!! 10 visits left! I am pumped! Free drink every 12th, personalized card, and special offers? Sold! Of course, I've been using my Hawaii cold cup that my friend, Corinna from Surfin' Through Second sent me! BUT...I also have a GIANT cup that I enjoy getting filled up. My drink of choice in the summer: unsweetened black iced-tea with 1 Splenda. Amazing. Even more amazing? I have braces {well that's not amazing but read on}. Yes, adult braces. It's only the third time that I've had them. I can drink my iced tea freely every day for the next 6 months and not worry about tea stains on my teeth!
That's all for now. Off to relax!

I love your crayon box. Very cute and clever way of organizing and finding different colors. We can get into our school on weekends, but we need to enter a security code. I usually never bother unless it's open already.

If your mom is finished with your room, is she available next Monday for my room? We can get into our classrooms most anytime - gate key gets you on campus and then your room key. July is pretty much off limits as they are cleaning.
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend, I'm loving tonight's randomness!

Too bad our floors would not look like this in May!
ReplyDeleteI laughed at "Hanitizer"!! I correct my students all year long to say it correctly, yet "hanitizer" it is!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for extra crayons! My first graders dig through a plastic box looking for the right color. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteA gold card is beyond awesome! I've had one since 2010. I even have it reloaded via Paypal when my balance gets low. Gift cards are great too! Good Luck!
