Directions:
-Purchase silicone baking pans with holiday shapes (Target has them for $2.50 each).
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-Sort crayons by color and remove the paper using an exacto knife or razor blade.
-Break the crayons into small pieces and place into ungreased molds (silicone pan). You can put as many or as few as you want. I put a ton and so I have huge crayons! LOL! Next time, I won't put as many...
-I recommend placing the silicone on a baking sheet, because for some reason my candy canes leaked through the bottom and onto my oven floor. Maybe because they are narrow? Who knows.
-Bake at 350 for 6-8 minutes. Keep a close watch on them.
-Let cool in pan for 1 hour or longer.
-Crayons will pop right out when cool.
*I am giving each student one crayon and some paper as part of their Christmas gift.
I just made these with my own children. Lots of fun, totally easy, just a bit time consuming.

ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I love reusing things. We are using glass jars and covering them with tissue paper. Put a tea light and now we have a lantern. These will be our parent gifts.
ReplyDeleteGo to a restaurant (Pizza Hut?) that gives crayons to kids. Have them save their already opened/cannot be used again crayons. A mom brought me a huge bag...
